Inside the Formula: Jojoba, Tallow and Botanical Blends

In this guide

Read what goes into Synced Skin’s jojoba face serums and tallow balms, how the two botanical blends differ, and where to check each full ingredient list.
Two Synced Skin face serums and two tallow balms in sunlight on a stone ledge

A simple skincare routine starts with knowing what is in each step. Synced Skin pairs a jojoba-based face serum with a tallow balm, then gives you two botanical blends to choose from. Here is a closer look at what the labels say and how the formulas fit together.

The serum starts with jojoba

Both Synced Skin face serums list jojoba oil as their base. The difference between them is the blend of essential oils. The Follicular / Ovulatory Serum lists lemongrass, lemon and clary sage essential oils. The Luteal / Menstrual Serum lists spearmint, eucalyptus and frankincense essential oils.

That gives you a practical way to choose: read the ingredient list, consider which scent you enjoy, and notice which ingredients your skin prefers. The pairing names are cycle-inspired, but there is no need to follow a fixed calendar or expect a hormone-related result.

The balm adds a second texture

Our balms list grass-fed tallow and jojoba oil, along with the essential oils for their respective blends. The Follicular / Ovulatory Balm shares the herbal-citrus blend of its matching serum. The Luteal / Menstrual Balm shares the woody-minty blend of its matching serum. Because the balms contain animal-derived tallow, they are not vegan.

A balm feels different from a dropper serum. Use a small amount after your serum, then adjust the amount to your preference. You can keep the routine light or add a little more balm where you want a richer finish.

How to read our ingredient lists

The full ingredient list is available on each product page and on the product label. Look at the exact formula you are considering rather than assuming that the two blends are identical. If you have a sensitivity to a particular essential oil, review the list before ordering and patch test before regular use. Always follow the directions on the current packaging.

Find your starting point

If you already know which blend you prefer, begin with its serum and matching balm. If you want to explore both blends, the Starter Kit brings together two serums and two balms, with Mini and Full Size options. For a step-by-step application guide, read how to layer Synced Skin.

Your next step

Use the exact product’s ingredient list as your starting point. The two blends are different, and the serum and balm are different formats.

  • All four formulas contain essential oils.
  • The balms contain animal-derived tallow and are not vegan.
  • Read the pairing comparison, then open the full ingredient list on the product you are considering.
